South Zone - Kenya

South Zone is one of the most vibrant community cricket hubs in Kenya, a powerful example of what sustained, community-led cricket can achieve. Coordinated by long-time coach Nicholas Oluoch, South Zone connects eight schools and hundreds of young people through regular training, competition, and community action.

Cricket here is about more than performance. Sessions are built around values such as inclusivity, teamwork, accountability, and resilience. Young people also take part in community clean-ups, environmental activities, and visits to orphanages, reinforcing the idea that cricket and community go hand in hand.

Mini-festivals, tournaments, and shared meals bring families and schools together, building relationships that extend beyond the pitch. These social moments are just as important as the cricket itself, creating belonging, trust, and pride.

As well as social impact, the effect on cricket and talent development is clear. South Zone has become a pathway for talent, with a large proportion of recent Kenyan under-19 and senior national team players coming from the hub. But just as importantly, it has become a place where young people are supported, mentored, and encouraged to dream.
