Cricket Para A Vida - Brazil
In Brazil, Cricket Unites is building on strong existing community energy to position cricket as a safe, inclusive, and protective space for young people. Working alongside Cricket Brasil, the programme focuses on strengthening coaches, empowering youth leaders, and embedding values-based cricket in communities facing social challenges. In Brazil, cricket is still a young sport, but that is its strength. It allows communities to shape it intentionally, embedding inclusion, safety, and belonging from the start.
Through Cricket Changemakers workshops, young people and coaches explored the realities of their lives, identifying drugs, violence, bullying, and lack of support as key issues. Together, they set a powerful shared goal: to make cricket a “safe haven” where young people feel supported, valued, and able to grow.
Alongside youth leadership, the programme has invested heavily in coach education. Local coaches have completed ICC Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications, Positive Youth Development training, and safeguarding workshops. This ensures that the people leading sessions have the skills and confidence to create environments that are fun, inclusive, and development-focused.
